Thrift shopping has grown immensely in global popularity, and even has Singapore hooked. In a city known for its fantastic luxury shopping, Singapore also is teeming with just as amazing secondhand shops. What’s so unique about thrifting is you can unearth one-of-a-kind vintage items or exclusive designer pieces, all it takes is a careful eye. So whether you’re a sustainable shopper, a vintage lover, or trying to expand your wardrobe on a budget, there is a thrift shop here for you.

1. Refash

Refash has both an online and in person store where you can shop brands from low to high. You can browse through previously owned fast fashion items from Zara, Topshop, ASOS, etc. They update their stock frequently so be sure to pop back in every once and a while. Refash is a great place to shop on a budget as prices start from only $5!

2. Threadlightly

Originally having a physical store at Queensway, Treadlightly has moved fully online. They focus on three specific clothing categories: Rehome, Reclaim, and Rework. Rehome offers second hand items, Reclaim provides curated vintage pieces, and Rework carries goods handmade by the founder and her mother. Threadlighly size inclusive too, and offers clothing from sizes XXS to XXL.

3. Salvation Army

One of the most well known thrift stores in SIngapore, Salvation Army is constantly adapting and carrying new items. So be sure to check them out frequently at one of their many outlets around the country. Salvation Army doesn’t just cater towards your average thrifter, you can expect designer and vintage coats, jeans, and sunnies.

4. New 2 U

If you’re looking for unique pieces and hidden gems, New2U is the thrift store for you. Here you can find designer goods, eccentric statement pieces, and more. This charity thrift shop is run by the Singapore Council of Women’s Organisations and is run entirely by volunteers. What’s more, all proceeds from sales go to SCWO’s initiatives or Star Shelter, a refuge for victims of domestic violence.

5. Deja Vu Vintage

Rifle through the racks of Deja Vu Vintage for pre-loved bags, accessories, and curated pieces imported from the U.S., Europe, Australia and Japan. These include coveted couture pieces from Carolina Herrera, Moschino, and Oscar De La Renta. Deja Vu Vintage’s designer pieces can even go for up to 80% their original prices. 6. SSVP Shop

This charity shop in Geylang is run by the Society of St. Vincent de Paul and a group of their volunteers. Various Catholic churches around the island donate a multitude of preloved items to the shop, from apparel to homeware. You can also make an appointment with the shop to donate your own items that will go towards helping low income families in Singapore.

Vintage clothing at Nonmainstream thrift store

7. Nonmainstream

Nonmainstream is a hip and trendy clothing shop that carries sportswear brands and accessories. All their items are specially curated and include Nike windbreakers, vintage sweatshirts, polos, and retro graphic tees. But make sure to schedule your visit and check out their Instagram for their timings, as they are only open Fridays and weekends.

8. A Vintage Tale

Thrifting can be really hit or miss when it comes to quality, but this gem in Joo Chiat is all about high-grade vintage apparel. Dig around to find pieces from Gucci, Moschino, and Valentino—some even date back to the 50s! A Vintage Tale also offers accessories and shoes that will make great additions to your wardrobe.

9. Loop Garms

Inspired by a trip to Japan, Loop Garms founders FJ Sai and Isaac Ang, decided to open a store in Singapore dedicated to curated 80s and 90s apparel. Their collection features button ups, pants, jackets, graphic tees from athletes like Nike, Fila, and Adidas. Check out their AInstagram to make online purchases, but make sure to visit their store for special edition pieces.

10. The Fashion Pulpit

The Fashion Pulpit is a physical store where you can swap and buy preloved clothes and accessories. They have a vast collection of high end pieces to vintage items, so the prices are kept affordable. You can sign up to be a ‘swapper’ where you can rack up points for that dress you’ve been eyeing and you get to join in on special events. It’s also conveniently located right next to the ZERRIN store
