We do enjoy a good podcast here at ZERRIN HQ! An easy and handsfree way to consume content on the go (or while doing house chores!) we love tuning in and listening to people having insightful discussions on a variety of topics. When it comes to discussions on sustainability in fashion, here’s a couple of our favourites which will help keep you up to date with the latest news, interviews and ideas circulating in the industry.
1. Conscious Chatter
One of the more well-known sustainable fashion podcasts recommended by Good On You and Eco Warrior Princess is Conscious Chatter. It is hosted by Kestrel Jenkins, who has worked with People Tree and Ecoutere. She interviews people trying to make a change in the fashion industry such as Safia Minney, founder of People Tree and Po-zu and Andrew Morgan, director of the documentary The True Cost.
Available on: Spotify and Conscious Chatter
2. Wardrobe Crisis
Clare Press, Vogue Australia’s sustainability editor-at-large, hosts the Wardrobe Crisis. She has also published a fabulous book by the same name. She meets and records insightful conversations with people who are pioneering cool ideas in the sustainable fashion industry. From individuals like Timo Rissanen who came up with the idea of “zero waste fashion design” to people working in the sustainability department of large brands like Levis. In short, this podcast unzips the industries key issues and goes deeper to speak about the realities, complexities and politics of fashion and personal style.

6. The Slow Home
This podcast focuses primarily on conscious living, rather than the topic of sustainable fashion. But it will certainly inspire you to revamp your wardrobe into a more mindful one. Hosted by Brooke McAlary, a writer who decluttered her life after being diagnosed with postnatal depression. For instance, she introduces listeners to a world of meditation and slow living, as opposed to the fast-paced world we live in today.

7. Fashion Revolution
If you’ve been keeping in touch with the sustainable fashion movement, you will recognise the platform, Fashion Revolution. They also play a huge role in raising awareness about sustainable fashion and encouraging large retailers to be more transparent. Meanwhile, it is shorter than our other selections on this list with only 3 episodes. Yet, it informs listeners on the working conditions of the garment workers in sweatshops, something that other podcasts which focus primarily on entrepreneurship fall short of.
Available on: ACAST and iTunes
8. Ethical Business Podcast
Kickstarted by two Australians – Melanie Palmer and Ross Townson – this podcast tackles the issue of ethical business practices from the corporate viewpoint. Palmer has experience managing Australia’s largest foreign aid program whereas Townson was a senior legal officer and policy manager of the Australian government. Therefore, using their political and legal expertise, they uncover the injustices of the corporate world, including those occurring within the fashion industry.
